I work as a school nurse at an elementary school and at times go up to the High School when needed.

I take care of students that are needing 1st aid, prn. I make sure that all students are up to date on immunizations, have religious exemptions signed, medication paperwork signed, and asthma action plans in place. I do head checks twice a year (beginning of school and after Christmas break) and as needed. I do eye exams with the help of the Lion's club in the Fall and have a group called Sealant's for Smiles come in and check student's teeth after Christmas break. I make sure that supplies are ordered and trays are full for staff to use. There is also a couple of forms that are filled out for the state and Central Montana Health District. The one for the state is a count of all students (elementary and high school) that have had immunizations or not. The other form is an absenteeism form that is filled out every week for students that have been absent and what type of sickness/problem they have had. I help out where ever I am needed.
